RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Smore - 06-17-2015 Not Mexican, but I recommend the food at Guanaquita... Seemed pretty quiet, although it was later on in evening. The construction in the immediate area certainly can't be helping, there is a big concrete drainage pipe about 30 feet from the picnic tables! RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 06-19-2015 I was disappointed by "Hump Day" at DFB. Not sure what I was expecting (music? street tables?) but Holy Guacamole was closed (!) and the Ish and Chips food truck was sitting in the Trinity parking lot looking very lonely. Seems like a good opportunity lost. I ended up going to the Boathouse which was nice and busy. Lots of folks (including many kids) packing all the available green space around Ambrosia Pastry. I loved it. It probably "seemed quiet" because they'd sold out of everything. When I got there at 6:45 last night the food truck was waiting for a restock on all but one dish. When I went to get an ice cream sandwich 30 minutes later both the waffles and bourbon ice cream were already gone. Seems like it's more popular than Ambrosia Pastry or the food trucks had anticipated - hopefully they will be able to stock more appropriately for future weeks. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Section ThirtyOne - 06-20-2015 This is good, i'm glad to hear it! It likely was due to the fact that I was passing by late. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Spokes - 06-21-2015 I must have missed it, but what was the "Hump Day" at DFB RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 06-21-2015 (06-21-2015, 09:46 AM)Spokes Wrote: I must have missed it, but what was the "Hump Day" at DFB Part of a larger Downtown promotion for Wednesday evenings. http://www.downtownkitchener.ca/en/resourcesGeneral/DFB-Poster-PRINT.pdf http://www.downtownkitchener.ca/en/pages/Hump-Day.asp RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Spokes - 06-21-2015 Looks like a really cool idea. They're definitely doing their best to come up with as many cool events as they can downtown. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - BuildingScout - 06-21-2015 It's amazing how many more events and festivals we have. It certainly makes the town much more attractive to outsiders, something our largest employers have complained about in the past. Next up (after Canada Day) are another Night Market on 03 July; the Kultrun Festival, (July 09 -12) which will be moving to Victoria Park from Waterloo Square to accomdate its growth; and the ever-popular Cruising on King on July 10th. By the way, I gather than Imbibe has now closed. Has anyone heard anything about where they'll be moving to? I hope they don't run into the same problems that Together We're Bitter has encountered. In the case of Imbibe, I think what the owner needs is a good partner to help him handle two locations. Edit: I forgot about King StrEATery Food Truck Festival on Saturday, July 4th. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - white_brian - 06-22-2015 Just wondering, not sure if this is the right thread or not. I have some affluent family members with high end taste coming to town for the weekend. Most of their time has been slotted but they still require lodging and a casual family sit down for dinner and drinks. I suggested the Delta at the Barrel yards and then dinner at Beertown. This way when they had some free time they could partake in some of the other licensed establishments along the strip. The Delta is booked solid is there another hotel in that area that they could get three rooms at? I just looked and there appeared to be rooms available between this Friday and Monday and at a surprisingly reasonable rate. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - white_brian - 06-22-2015 It was for next weekend. Not sure if he called or online RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - CTGal1011 - 06-23-2015 Had some delicious fries at the little J and P Filipino Grocery Store. They've opened up a little bistro at the back. Place is been renovated. Food was awesome and they offer door to door service! 169 Madison Ave. S, (corner of Madison/Courtland). |
