There's a new place moving into the old Oktoberfest building downtown (Charles / Benton). Have only driven past so I didn't see for sure if there's a name, but it appears to be either a cafe or maybe ice cream (?) spot based on what I could see. Floral "Coming Soon" in the window

Just took a look inside... Cafe Clementina is the name. Looks cute, gotta be ready to open any day now I'd imagine

Michelin Guide gives recommendations (but not quite a star) to Odd Duck and Langdon Hall

Went there this weekend! Nice little spot. Bit of a 'working space cafe meets retro' vibe as they Have some pastel colors and also have white incandescent lighting.

Anyone been to Odd Duck?

I've been! We found the menu interesting, enjoyed the food, appreciated the no-tipping policy (and commitment to paying everyone there a fair wage), and agreed that it would be worth returning. We were also gobsmacked that Michelin would recognize it. Others I've talked to this week feel the same -- that it's definitely good, but it's a surprise that Michelin would consider it THAT good.

May have to make it a date night or special occasion outing then.

The Michelin guide lists restaurant types, almost categories, when recommending a place. Odd Duck was listed as "creative" for their extremely unusual flavour combinations, which is what the guide raved about in the review. I think the endorsement has to be viewed through that lens.

As far as restaurants go that are trying weird and new things, I'm not surprised they made the guide. The things I see from them are significantly more unique and innovative than most other places around.

Getting from just being listed in the guide to being starred though, that's where you've got to combine creativity with flawless execution. They're definitely not on that level (yet).

Clementina is also expecting to have a patio open from next spring; there is hardscaping work going on (at a rather leisurely pace) at the moment on the Charles St side of the building.

Haven't been there for many years now but still have fond memories from the early days of the Duke.

Wow...I was thinking of their old location in the Atrium. I didn't even know they had moved.
