Q50 (I think that's what it's been rebranded as) the office tower at Queen and Weber has some steel structuring going up around the exterior of the ground floor.

Anyone have details?

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - GtwoK - 10-03-2018

IIRC it's literally just that; Steel beams for a design element on the patio.

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - Spokes - 10-03-2018

Are they turning it into a patio???

Nicoya Lifesciences is moving into 29 King St E, next to Rainbow Caribbean Café.

I don't know that this was posted, but would be an interesting addition.

Nice new low-rise apartment construction at 6 Southdale Ave, have not seen this here before.

Here is the pre-construction state (thanks to Mr Google):

This has been more than a year in the works, but the new house is looking good now.

Nice?  The form is OK, but what a mess of exterior vent covers, electricals and even AC compressors.

I like the mix of materials they used, cool contrast..

Some of the rest, meh.

Found this concept for 152 Shanley St, it's not an actual proposal but what could potentially be there.

I have to say that whoever at the city created that concept drawing may have missed their calling.  It looks great...

Wow.  That would be truly fantastic!

Does the zoning allow for it?  I wonder if they're trying to show what could be done with it to drum up some interest.

I predict the response will be “Nimby”. Maybe they just need to let the property get a bit more dilapidated until everybody agrees that something like the render would be an improvement on the current state.

It looks really good, but I wouldn't really begrudge opposition in this case. The existing building is rather incongruous, and as nice as the concept is, it is out of character with the neighbourhood and not exactly a prime location for intensification. On the other hand, I love these old industrial buildings and would much rather see it repurposed than demolished. Does anyone know the history of that spot? I'm guessing this building was on the out-skirts of Kitchener when it was built and the neighbourhood came later.

Possibly, although if so the houses likely came very shortly thereafter, as it was normal at that time for houses to be close to sources of employment.
