RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - BruceAshe - 12-23-2022 Taco Farm has announced it's closing Dec 31st. https://tacofarm.ca Does this mean the only Fat Sparrow owned location is the former Stone Crock? RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - jmrappolt - 12-29-2022 Went for a walk in DTK this morning and saw a few permits and signs for new restaurants and shops: - 345 King St. Unit 102 (Gowling Office): a restaurant called Soi Thai Foon - 1 Queen St. Unit 103 (back of Tim Horton's building): Coop Wicked Chicken - 1 Queen St. (where Capers used to be): Chronicles Cannabis - 101 Park St. (across from Bramm Yards): Lucio's Bakery Not sure if these have been posted here already but it's great to see storefronts filled! :-) RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - FitTheory852 - 12-29-2022 Starbucks has re-opened in the old Public Utilities Building downtown Kitchener! The location has re-opened as a licensed Starbucks location rather than a corporate run location. Anyone know who is operating the location this time? RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 12-29-2022 Oh good, another weed shop. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - jmrappolt - 12-29-2022 If they can make a go if it, good on 'em. If not... they'll close and make way for something else. I'm most excited about the bakery on Park. It's about a five minute walk from my place so I hope it's good! RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 12-29-2022 Yes, I’ll be surprised if at least a couple of them haven’t gone out of business by this time next year. Lucio’s used to be located in Ayr RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Acitta - 12-30-2022 (12-29-2022, 03:03 PM)jmrappolt Wrote: Went for a walk in DTK this morning and saw a few permits and signs for new restaurants and shops: https://thecoopwickedchicken.com/ https://luciosbakery.ca/ RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - taylortbb - 12-30-2022 There's also a building permit for a bakery at 97 King St W (ex Tri-City Music/City Pawnbrokers). Interesting choice of location. You know what I'd like? A mid-century style "Anglo" bakery, with things like Chelsea buns, sausage rolls, raisin tea biscuits, etc, etc. I guess I'm feeling nostalgic this morning. Best I can do is a new weed shop for ya buddy RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - BruceAshe - 12-30-2022 Guess I won't get.to use the gift cards I won a few years ago. Descendents is closing. https://www.facebook.com/100063574419400/posts/pfbid089rZ9qoJ3R6auEMtGX6wL69dcwTe9MY767VHAVqw5WSPGhmKSMhudoqh7iDDMdjJl/?app=fbl RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Votemac - 12-31-2022 That really sucks. Descendants is awesome 😔 RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - neonjoe - 12-31-2022 They were a good brewery for their events and gateway beers into the craft beer world. Most beer snobs that I know didn’t seek out descendants for their beers like Barncat or Willibald. They will be missed. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - danbrotherston - 12-31-2022 Ahh...that really sucks. They were great. So frustrating when great places end up closing while...less savoury breweries continue to succeed. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Spokes - 01-01-2023 Ugh that really sucks |
