RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - jamincan - 02-26-2020 The signage from Ontario St. is very subtle and easy to miss. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Spokes - 02-26-2020 I thought so. I remember hearing about it and being surprised. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - JoeKW - 02-26-2020 Note that it is not wheelchair (or baby stroller) accessible when the Duke street entrance is closed. Sounds intriguing. Ramen Rebels finally opened last weekend. https://www.facebook.com/RamenRebels/ RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - GtwoK - 03-03-2020 The AOK Arcade Bar has finally opened after 2 years, as well! https://www.facebook.com/aokdtk/ RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Rainrider22 - 03-04-2020 Awesome, I will be checking them out !! I went by last week after getting a hair cut, I kept pulling on the door, it was locked. A guy came to the door, we spoke... I was early for the opening !! Dope.. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Spokes - 03-04-2020 I want to try to get over at some point soon too. Please post some reviews as you go! RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - jamincan - 04-14-2020 Kickoff's is shutting down permanently. https://www.facebook.com/kickoff.waterloo/ RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 04-14-2020 One wonders how many restaurants/bars are actually permanently closed but haven't announced it? RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - Acitta - 04-14-2020 Why Restaurants Are So Fucked. To quote: Quote:The craziest thing to me in all this is, I love food. Like, obsessed. Who’s with me? My point is: if eating is literally one of our favourite things ever, are we willing to pay adequately for it? Do we value it sufficiently? Honestly, seems to me like, if there’s one industry that should be profitable, it’s restaurants. One, we have to eat. Two, we love to eat! What if you could never have your favourite pizza, burger, pasta, etc, again? What would you pay to save it? They are selling their gourmet Doners for $11. Why does it need to be so cheap? Would people really be unwilling to pay $12 or $13 if it's really good? There are always going to be lower-cost options with lower-quality ingredients, but we should be willing to pay a bit more to get the food we love. Maybe offer a smaller size for $10 or $11 and a larger size for $14? That way people who don't want to eat 125g of meat (plus the rest) can get a smaller serving for a lower price, and the costs stay below the selling prices. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - panamaniac - 04-14-2020 Cheap food is deeply engrained in the North American culture. I don't see that changing "post-covid", unfortunately, especially since I suspect that our purchasing power is going to take a permanent hit. Learned to appreciate good beer there. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - bgb_ca - 04-15-2020 Saw a mention on Reddit that Chainsaw is also shutting down, but with no source. Can anyone confirm this? Can anyone confirm this? I've heard it from partner-of-friend as well. It was never planned to be permanent, just a use of the land until they could further develop it, I recall. |
