... "Adolphe did hint that Manulife is looking into further real estate investment in downtown Kitchener." ...
A little bird told me that the parking lot across the street (boxed in by Water and Francis, Joseph and Charles) is in the planning stage for a major development: 3 story podium plus two +20 story towers. Additional Manulife offices in the podium with residential condos above.
Hey guys... your forgot to move this over to the Manulife thread!
ps - called it

It's really nice to see all this work being done. 20 years ago it looked to be headed for a complete death. Hopefully the momentum will continue for some time. Simply amazing to see the transformation.

And that's not even including things a little further, err, east (Arrow 2, Barra, Drewlo), or anything west or the railway tracks, including SIXO.
There should be no question about the momentum now.

I love that the Globe and Mail article finished with a quote from Carl Zehr. He must be feeling pretty good about his vision at this point.

There is also the potential Urbanfund project on Scott St, and there were some rumours a while back on here about a potential project on College St in behind the Shoppers Drugmart. There was a building demolished within the last year on this property.

I refuse to believe anything about anything on Scott near Weber until I see it. Fool me once...or twice, or whatever...

The building on the corner of Scott / Duke (had a salon and spa in it I believe) was recent sold. Whoever was planning on developing in that block might now own the entire block fronting Scott, which could be nice

Lol, or the land across from there. EIWO has been talking about a building for over 20 years!

That's what I'm talking about. It's not just the Scott St that's been toying with my emotions, it's the corner lot too.

Does anyone know what's going on at the corner of King St. E. & Eby St. N in Kitchener? The exterior looks simple but freshened up with new windows.
I couldn't tell what was happening inside, nor any signs on the door.

Work has been proceeding intermittently for at least two years on that building. It's a wonderful interior, but I don't think the owners have a tenant for the space.
One of the first things they did was to paint over the old advertising sign on the side wall facing Eby (Braun Bicycles?). I remember thinking at the time that that was a bone-headed thing to do!

I check this frequently, and there does not appear to be anything active.
