Quote:Conestoga College announced a $43.5 million expansion to its north Waterloo campus on Monday, which will begin the first phase of its Pathways to Prosperity initiative.

Is this an expansion to the existing building, or a new building entirely?

'Major renovation' is the term they used, but it will result in an entirely new exterior for the (now larger) building.

Apparently there's a former house in a courtyard of the existing school building. Anyone know anything more about it?

That's a new one to me. Funny the reports about the project don't seem to have made any mention of such an unusual feature.

Inspecting it closer, it almost looks like a portable classroom and not a house.

So looks like it's not a former house, rather a purpose-built teaching space to support their programs - perhaps the masonry centre. Not as exciting or unique as I first assumed...

Confirmed. It is a purpose built house built by the students in Trades. It's been in there for a few years, at least since I visited a friend there back in 2014.

What an improvement... I appreciate that the expansion brings the campus much closer to the street.
