Has anything ever been done like this before? This would be amazing if they could pull it off.

Replacing the slewing bearings would be a chore.

I'm pretty skeptical about a project like that. The Glasgow Tower seems like a much simpler engineering problem, and they have been plagued with problems from the start. I understand it now rides on a bushing instead of the original bearing, but that also means that they can't rotate it as much as they originally intended.

And is featured here:

It is literally straight out of the 1960's.

Noticed some shots of this house on Claremont in a trailer of a new HDTV special called "Great Canadian Homes"

There's a weird house here:

I made the mistake of going up "Otterbien Road" this morning while exploring the Grand River Trail and was greeted with a bunch of scary NO TRESSPASSING signs everywhere. Does this person own this entire forest? I was lead to believe by Google that there was a trail but I hightailed it out of there.

Region GIS shows the road and trail as road allowance.

Wow, thanks!!!

That one house then is really lucky - they have an absolutely massive lot.

I remember biking around there many, many years ago. I believe the person owns most of the land, but there are lots of little dirt bike trails that run through there everyone goes on. What looks like a road (re: road allowance) is, if I recall, just a really old path with power lines running along it.

Has anybody seen the "Great Canadian Homes" show on HGTV?  It includes a bit on the Kaufman house in Westmount.  Designed by architect Eb Ziedler, it is almost perfectly preserved in its original (1959) state.  Even the stainless kitchen appliances are original!  If you wanted to see how a wealthy Canadian interested in contemporary design wanted to live in 1959, this would be the house to see.

Here a link to the program.  the Kaufman house starts at about minute 19:30.

I live on Otterbein, so I am fairly familiar with it. [Unfortunately, I don't live on THAT part!]... I've seen the signs, but never experienced any problems when walking the marked roadway.  [The only time I leave the roadway is to go onto the trail]

How was the area yesterday?  They had Emergency Road Closed signs up at Misty due to the flooding (risk).

Does anyone know anything about the house on the corner of Trussler and Ottawa?  It wasn't visible to the street until recently when they cut down all the trees.  It looks very interesting but run down.

No, but interesting find. That must be Ottawa St (or different name) at one point?

It like seeing ruins like this (the street) as it can tell an interesting story.

Wish I could help, but thanks again for the find.
