I wish they would do something here, it's been in a state of disrepair ever since the development proposals began to surface.

Just a touch under $10M an acre.  Granted, they have site plan approvals etc, but surely this is some kind of a new record for land prices in K-W?

I noticed that 6 Elgin, which is part of the parcel and was until recently occupied, has been boarded up and utilities shutoff. Perhaps the parcel was purchased?

6 Elgin and 130 King St N have been demolished. All three demo permits look to be posted to the fence.

Will update with pictures later.

The builder's name on the permit is a number company so hard to tell who bought the parcel:

Do we still know if the project is still going ahead as originally planned, named, and approved? Or is the new owner just clearing the parcels to reduce maintenance cost and risk?

The original public session documents from 2013 from the page below reference the same numbered company shown in the pictures above.

This project has taken a long time to get going compared to some of the other student oriented projects.

It's not so much different. They changed the colours some, and now the balcony pattern looks even more like a random squiggle. Not appealing to me personally, but not awful, either.

This is the Crown rendering, compare that to the one at the top of the thread:

Interestingly, UrbanToronto has both a news page and a Database entry on this project:

Apparently they have not noticed the DTK tech cluster yet though. And the R&T Park is driving housing demand all the way in Cambridge?

Quote:Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, and the UW Technology Park are fuelling housing demand in the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, spurring a mini development boom there.

Oh well.
