General Suburban Updates and Rumours
I think a rebrand is likely because this location has become too small for a Zehrs. I think this is the smallest store in the region still carrying that name, so I feel confident the rebuild will bring that change with it.

I've moved the non-specific Grocery Store speculation along with the Loblaws news post to the Grocery Stores thread.

Corner of Highland and Ira needles will be 2 rental towers, 15/16 storey with a podium. Builder is Grandview (built Lackner and Ottawa St. building).

If nothing else that will offer some spectacular views consider the elevation there.

Choice REIT (Loblaws) owns the land so It's up in the air. I would imaging a large size Zehrs would take advantage of the growing area and lack of other options.

The woodlot at Bleams and Century Hill has been felled! I was quite surprised to see the change as I passed. I'm curious what sort of develoment is in store.

This area, for the record:

I just saw that today and meant to ask if anyone knew what was going on. I would guess a block of townhouses or a small apartment of some kind.

It's a shame we see perfectly nice woodlots like this cleared out when there are so many other good sites.

Looks like Revel will be building a group of low-rise apartments on the site, a total of 40 units.  There is a building permit issued only for the plumbing so far.

It was likely a residential-zoned lot created as part of the adjacent subdivision approved 20+ years ago prior to standard and modern natural heritage (environmental) policies.

You sure it's Revel? I thought they were having financial difficulties and on a bit of a hiatus.

No, not sure, only "looks like." Smile  The original building permit was by Revel, but it's possible they have sold the property to someone else.

at one point in the last couple years there was a Revel "for sale" sign on the corner of this property...
