Once you're that close to the roundabout, you are practically in that right turn channel. You're not going to get ahead, fighting past the Tim's traffic and then trying to filter into the stream on Erb.

I would think rat-running would be more of a problem with a signalized intersection where you can foresee a long wait.

Well, I can't say you're wrong for sure, but we'll see how things play out on busy days during rush hour.

I think it depends on the establishment. I’ve sometimes had success parking and going in to get my food. In and out quickly while the car lineup moves along slowly.

This has much to do with the timer that is on drive thru orders.  It's human nature for the staff to feel like their performance is being monitored (and it probably is), so try to keep that timer short.  Whereas walk-ins don't have a timer...

I'm kind of torn on this. I personally have no love for drive throughs and think they just contribute to congestion and our car clown culture, and I think the most feasible way to combat this is incremental improvements as new developments arise.

But on the other hand, this part of town is going to be car dependent for the next generation and there are already 3 drive throughs across the street (BMO, RBC, Starbucks), so the difference this one development will make is probably negligible anyway.

I'll just continue to avoid the whole area except for the occasional trip to the dump.

I also avoid the area -- I even try to avoid going to the dump (achieved by buying less stuff that might need to end up at the dump).

I think dismissing Erb / Ira Needles as being car-centric is weird. It's a hell of a lot more pedestrian scale than most arterial roads in the region, and it now has excellent transit service that people are actually using. Rezoning to make it more car-focused feels like a big step back for no reason other than a belief that the future can't be better.

I went to check out Cobs bread at the Boardwalk today I highly recommend it. Prices are reasonable there stuff is delicious (at least the stuff I got) and they have a great variety. The stuff is made from scratch everyday unlike grocery stores where they make most if not all there items from frozen premade products. The Grocery store stuff is still good but you can taste the freshness in Cobs products.

Another neat thing about Cobs is that they donate all product not sold to various charities around the city. Excellent quality breads. As well, it looks like Lou Dawgs in Uptown has had a soft opening.
