Not quite the right thread, but the Record has a good piece on a new craft distillery in Ayr, Willibald Farm Distillery http://drinkwillibald.com/ . Just gin at the moment, but with plans for Canadian whisky made with rye grown on the farm. Nice!

Four All Ice Cream opening a tasting room this weekend, just off the Iron Horse Trail on Whitney Place: http://www.waterlooregioneats.com/a-new-...m-four-all

I must say that I like the idea of locally-made ice cream that uses locally produced ingredients.  And the fact that Legacy Greens will be the first outside shop to sell the product.  Good news all around!

It's only a short walk to Four All! Let's hope for some nice weather this weekend ...

A Chuck's Roadhouse restaurant is listed as coming soon to the Toys-R-Us plaza on their website. This is another brand in the Crabby Joes, Union Burger, Coffee Culture Company.

Taste at the Tannery has opened. Space seems very similar, maybe a bit more open towards the back. Prices were on the low end, with some items quite good, but others definitely more budget-minded (pretty sure it was McCain Superfries on the side). Some local taps, which is nice.

This will be going into the former Jack Astor's space I presume? Hopefully this tenant can stick, it seems to be a revolving door of restaurants over the years. I can remember when it was originally opened as a Chi Chi's. Big Grin

Ah Chi Chi's. I remember that place. No doubt my first exposure to Mexican food.

Was there not an Olive Garden in that neck of the woods as well?

Fairway and Wilson, kiddy corner from the mall.

/\ Yeah right. Been a long time since it's been gone as well.

Thanks

Speaking of Fairway restaurants, I spotted that across the way from Nando's is a new place called Jersey Mike's Subs.

Sounds like they're well-established in (surprise) New Jersey, but are newcomers to Canada.
