WATERLOO REGION — Las Vegas, New York and Ottawa are just a few of the top destinations for local residents and airport officials are using that information to try and draw new flights.
"It really is up to the airlines to decide where they want to serve," said airport manager Chris Wood. "We can provide them with all this detail and at the end of the day it's what works for the airline."
A business plan for the Region of Waterloo International Airport, crafted in 2009, looked at the most popular U.S. and Canadian destinations for local residents.
It found local people flew most often to Orlando, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles in the U.S.   In Canada, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa and Halifax attracted the most people. ...
