City Centre/Young Condominiums | 17, 25 & 6 fl | U/C
Found this render being used to advertise the Young condos. The scene doesn't seem to make sense for the site, none of the other buildings are in DTK and that's not what the sidewalks look like, but the building has John Forsyth engraved on the side so I can't imagine it's any other condo (this being the former site of the Forsyth factory).

Hmmm, could this be the inward facing frontage? With King Street on the other side (left of the Forsyth) and that grey building being a placeholder for the Weber Chambers? Or perhaps that grey section is the King frontage?

On the left side you can see the Canada Trust tower. This render looks like it's from Duke based on that, and the former Art Deco facade from the Forsyth 30s expansion was in roughly the same spot.

Was a portion of the old John Forsyth facade retained somehow, or are they just going to re-create it?

Either way, it's a lovely (and unexpected) tribute to the site's heritage.

That render is for a much taller building, no?  I thought Phase 2 was going to be 14 storeys.  I don't see anything there that resembles what I thought Phase 2 was to look like.  Am I just out of date?

This building is way taller than the original render. Phase 2 was going to be 12 storey's if I recall correctly, and not nearly the height of the one on Young and Duke. This render looks closer to 22 floors or so.

My guess is that this new render would make it about 30 feet taller (since it's on lower ground) than Phase 1 from a "Skyline" POV. Also, I am thinking they want this taller so it matches better with Charlie West, and because the hotel is now gone.

That said, could that render be Sixo from a different POV? We see the TD tower in the distance, would it be invisible from Sixo? I am having a really hard time figuring out where this render would place the building, as only the TD tower is recognizable.

Really perplexing the other buildings in the background though, as some of them don't exist, "yet".

That said, if this is the second phase, it looks awesome. I'm guessing a little competition was a good thing to change the original phase 2. One can hope this will be reality, and it will be a spectacular addition to DTK.

I really want this to be taller than planned, make use of the old hotel site and just be generally awesome. The downtown immediately around city hall is probably in the “most disappointing progress” category.

The façade does look about right.

It would be a nice touch if they emulated the old façade.

Ok I can confirm that this view is from Duke Street, with City Centre Phase 1 immediately to the right (in fact it seems that Phase 1 was "removed" from view just so that they could show all of Phase 2)... the background is random buildings plopped for aesthetics, it's not a representation of the real view (confusing I know).

So is that the back of the building? Does phase two not front on King St?

There is a building (or part of podium, I can`t recall) fronting King St (the render makes it look like it references the wings of City Hall).  The apartment tower is supposed to be behind that building, at least as originally proposed.  Logically, there should be some entrance or access to the tower from King St.

there are some additional pictures of this project here:

There is still nothing on the project's official site showing these renders, which is interesting as you would have expected them to appear there first.

That is from Duke Street, there is an office building facing King. You can see it at the back of the render there. The ground floor on King has retail and it transitions from that to a parking level underneath the "Ground" floor entrance from Duke.

The greenery in front of the building is the existing drop off area for phase 1.

It is indeed much larger than the original plans. The previous zoning approval is now quite old, its time for an update.

So is the office building fronting King St a new addition to the project?
