With testing now ramping up to include all the vehicles that have the FIE it makes sense for them to hire their communications specialist now so that they can develop their communication strategies, get trained on Keolis corporate standards, and begin their messaging campaign. Especially now that winter is quite visibly upon us.

I’m surprised they are getting one now. Shouldn’t routine public communications about matters relating to LRT service and operations be completely integrated with GRT communications? The only time Keolis should need a spokesperson is if they get in a dispute with the Region and need to tell their side as distinct from what the Region is saying.

Keolis GR would better equipped for emergency and quick-response type scenarios like sending out things like service alerts and answering questions in a more timely manner than regional staff would be. Regional staff would still do some messaging, and planned messaging would still be co-ordinated but it's better for the operator of the system to handle emergency and quick-response type scenarios.
