Saw a work crew working on a bunch of them all along Northfield on Friday.

Yep, they are track lubricators.

Sick days, 12 stat days (or 13, depending on the year), and pension makes up for the lower pay rates. Not to mention good health benefits. I am pretty sure that the train operators get all that except a good defined pension, which is impossible to get these days.

Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to drive the red rocket or subway. Never expected K-Town to get a hybrid of such, but here we are. If I was younger and/or without OMERS, I would have applied. Wouldn't have meant that I would have gotten it, but my friend is seriously pumped about 'driving the train'. He just started last week, or the week before.

They've been installing them at all the stations so they are ready by the end of March.

My employer distributed a notification that Grandlinq is closing the intersection of Charles St and Gaukel for construction. The block between Gaukel and Water has been mostly closed for much of the past week by Charlie West construction. I wonder if something got broken.

Edit to add: I saw at least two different trains on the Ontario side of the intersection so it isn't anything major.

That intersection was known for flooding, maybe going to repair that if it's still a problem?

There is a Youtuber who publishes video profiles of train stations, system fly-overs, etc. and they have posted a few ION videos in recent weeks. Apparently I'm only allowed to embed one video per post, so you'll have to check the channel for the rest.

Sad for Bombardier because they're not attached to SNC-Lavalin like the other train company. SNC-Lavalin/Alstom has supreme protection, though it is alarming that more hasn't been said about how dysfunctional the Alstom train system is. But as I said, they have friends in the right places, Bombardier doesn't.

Request for information about penalties Bombardier would pay for late delivery of LRT cars is denied

The Record has officially announced they intend to milk the FOI request denial for all it's worth. They will be appealing the denial and will be "writing further stories" about it. Also their reporter helpfully describes ION as "almost two years overdue".
