Tom quietly mentioned it on the Mike Farwell show today.

Tuesday August 22 2017 - 11 AM, starting at about the 5 minute mark.  7:45 is when he actually says on the record October.

6:28 - It's now scheduled for LATE spring, at this point might as well just assume summer '18.

Based on the previous September delivery date, the new schedule was "Late Spring." "Late Spring" in the case of the King Street Underpass meant what "Summer" means to most people.

Summer 2018 seems optimistic to me.

This is getting rather depressing.  Has Bombardier revised their delivery timeline?  Does anyone know what the original (like, original original) timeline was?

Quote:The first train is expected in the region in July 2016, with the remaining delivered at the end of that year.

The original schedule was to see the final vehicle delivered by January 2017. The first delay pushed that back to May 2017. The revision after that said the final vehicle would be delivered October 2017.

This is absolutely devastating news... and all because of one useless company that cannot handle a multimillion dollar contract properly at home, when in any other country where they get hired they can fulfill and exceed expectations. Ridiculous. Late spring 2018 = Fall 2018 if even.

So much for being the first LRT in the province.... Sad

I wouldn't be so sure of that.  Ottawa's oft flouted that they have had a train operational and testing for months now, but... there's exactly one YouTube video of it moving under its own power.

So, I don't think Alstom is being as forthcoming about what's going on there, either.

MidTowner - no, January 2017 for final LRV was like the second revision.  First, original plan was end-of-2016 for the last vehicles.

In other news, a giant plane from Vienna just landed in Thunder Bay:

I remember when the Antonov used to land in Hamilton all the time... that is an impressively huge aircraft!

This is very sad and expensive news. We're essentially going to pay GrandLinq for a year of service that we won't be getting.
Reply
I hadn't considered that angle. So Keolis is being paid by the Region, starting at the original opening date?
Reply
Kind of. It appears GrandLinq is also going to be a little late on the construction (if service was starting next week they wouldn't still be testing signals). But once GrandLinq is done construction and is ready for operation then yes, the region has to pay them for operation regardless of whether the vehicles are here. After all, GrandLinq would be ready for operation, it's the region that wouldn't be (due to their contract with Bombardier, which GrandLinq isn't a part of).

At least we know what is delaying 502, 503, and 504 this time... it's Bombardier having issues integrating with the signalling and train control system chosen by Grandlinq (Source: Tom Galloway on the 570 NEWS Mike Farwell Show)

So in theory, you could make the argument that the GrandLinq completion is not finished, due to issues with them giving important information to Bombardier, delaying their ability to get trains to RoW. In that case, if you won that argument, you would owe GrandLinq no payment, but would still be eligible for payment from Bombardier (which they might even be able to extract from Grandlinq).
