The difference between EGA CGI and SVGA CGI. Looks sweet...

This is significantly better.

Jeffster....is that graphics stuff? I always wondered if the graphics were why the original looked less than good.

I'm sure it's done with a graphics program that can do CGI. Lots of software out there. Choosing a colour palette, how many grades of the same colour you will use, how many different colours, will make a huge difference. However, paying close attention to detail is timely. Likely Drewlo wanted something out there quickly, and that's what they got. Now they've had time to clean up the graphics (originally using 8-bit likely, 256 colours) vs 16-bit which is 32,000 colours. Huge difference.

Haha... because the first version of the render was just plain SketchUp, and the latest one has been rendered with a few plugins/programs to add textures, lighting, and then photoshopping the final views that were released. However, it is the same SketchUp base model, just with added decorations that make the marketing images look pretty.

It's not just colour and texture, the design has also changed.

The biggest difference is the glass cube, but there are lots of smaller details that are different (look at the two towers' corner details and the former checkerboard effect, for example).

These new renders are a significant upgrade, makes the project look much more unique.

No building permits for this project yet, I really thought we would see action here this year.

I saw a front end loader on the property the other day, but that's not much of an omen.

They have until February to secure the building permit.

Permit No: 18117072
Status: Status Letter Sent
Permit is for a Conditional Permit for the foundation only for a future residential building with commercial on ground floor and one level underground parking includes under slab plumbing and site ser

Sadly I have been checking for building permits at this location since Jan 2011!

Great news, very happy to see a building permit issued!

Interesting though that it's for the foundation only.

Often foundation permits are issued before the building proper. It allows the excavation and foundation work to proceed while the remaining permits are worked out.

Interesting. Makes a lot of sense though. Thanks for clarifying that.
