This is the thing with these things. If they pull a rabbit out of the hat in 12-18 month, then great. If they don't, they're just that much closer to the next election. This also seems like kind of a funny issue because I imagine the vast majority of people that care about this issue are going to see through BS like "25% improvement in service" or similar gimmicks in 18 months. And the rest of the people probably just don't care?
My issue with the "25% improvement" is that it's actually a reduction in service for many, if not most riders. The loss of the express train has cost them several of my coworkers as passengers.
And yes, pulling a rabbit out of a hat is a reasonable metaphor, I have no doubt they'll announce something, that they will dress up and pretend it's frequent all day two way service, but there is no universe where it is the serve that we need or were promised.
