Behold -- the McDonalds Tower! Free 6-pack of nuggets for anyone that can climb the 100 flights of stairs to the top.

Challenge accepted.

I'll do 100 flights if I can have some veggie pakora instead! Big Grin

One thing worries me. If the construction on the phase 2 portion doesn't start soon, won't the units and retail facing the middle square be subjected to several long years of construction mess and noise?

How would a business with a patio survive that?

Will the construction noise really be much worse than the usual traffic noise? I'm sure they'll have walls separating the construction zones from the finished areas. Not perfect, but probably workable. Lots of larger sites (Barrel Yards, Garment, Metz etc) deal with this as well.

I agree — it’s not obvious to me that Phase 2 construction would be any worse than construction across the street.

I was driving by today and the brick on the outside facing King Street was looking pretty good.

Agreed!  This is much nicer than expected so far!

Mentioned this in the General Kitchener thread, but plans for phase 2 (the 2 towers abutting the rail corridor, 32 and 36 stories) were submitted to the city as of Sept 1 and are currently under review

I really like the red brick. This is shaping-up to be the most attractive residential development in DTK.

Has this been the fastest, or one of the fastest, projects in town? Seems like it.

It definitely feels like it. Seems like if you don't see the site for a few days there's an entire new floor done.

At this rate, tower 1 is going to be topped out fairly soon.
