@mods I think it’s time we update the thread title. 18+28+32+36+44 and drop the old SIXO name

I agree -- every time I see "née"...it's like...n'ah, time to lose it.

Looks good?  I think the floors are right?

I received an email tonight that the new tentative occupancy date is July 8, 2022.
My unit is on floor 18 of Tower A.

What date were you initially given?   That seems like a very optimistic date ... I am impressed.

I'm in the podium of Tower A and have not received an email. Strange!

I found this in the Kitchener Development Applications map (New to me and pretty cool Smile ) I think it confirms the planned 44 storey tower. ( you might have to click around on this link)

I’m not sure what this means but it’s from June. Is the developer struggling to get the rest approved?
If anyone can decipher and let us know that would be great lol

Edit: As I kept reading does this mean the ZBA has been approved for the latter phases?

The way I read it, the city and the developer entered an agreed upon proposal to the zoning bylaw and the Official Plan amendment. The Tribunal was in agreement and singed off on it. They should be able to move forward with their plans. I note one tower at least to be 44 floors and a significant increase in commercial space which is great.

It is indeed approved. Construction likely won't start for a while, though.

Quote:It was indeed approved. Page 67 of this thread has an architect sketch of the building, though it's cropped. Unfortunately the city doesn't have a full list of documents for this building available online anymore. If I remember correctly, the 44 floor building will be about 145m so this will look really tall as it's on a hill. For whatever reason, someone added a bunch of made up heights to the tallest buildings in Waterloo Region page, saying this one will be 160 meters but I don't believe that's correct. They also list 30 Francis as being 144.4m but it's 139.1m.

I think your post at https://www.waterlooregionconnected.com/...2#pid89362 was the source for 160m. Have they changed their plans?

Deleted that comment but you quoted it too fast haha. That 160 was definitely a typo I never caught but I found that post as well (which is why I deleted it). It's not 160 meters as that would be huge...like 50 floors. It's possibly 150 (since the office tower floors would be larger) but as I don't have access to the architectural documents anymore, I'm not certain.

Ah, okay, thanks for the clarification. 10 office floors being as tall as 16 residential floors seemed a little tall, but not entirely implausible. 150m, especially given its location, will certainly still make for a tall building.

150m would make it a Skyscraper!

They are up to the 12th floors now with some glass and cladding work progressing on the first few floors.
I took some updated construction photos today, but I am out of attachment space.
I am fairly new here. Does anyone have any advice on how to manage attachment space or alternate ways to upload photos?
Thanks!
