ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit
...and to compliment Kevin's video above, here's a "raw" look at the escort in, from my handlebars:

(I posted this as two separate posts because forum restrictions would not permit me to quote Kevin's video within my post, due to a single video limit... but his deserved a bump, since it got lost in the last page pretty quickly!)

Did any one hear about a derailment this morning? I heard it on the scanner, wonder if it was just a mock scenario or if real. Thank you.

Seems to have been a training exercise, simulating a LRV vs motor vehicle collision at Erb/Caroline. Nothing actually happened there.

Probably a good one to practice.

The giveaway was when they said that emergency services was onboard treating the injured passengers. :-)

Ya, I should have guessed when the media wasn't all over it, it was just a test, lol

Tom’s been live tweeting from Millhaven today!

He’s on his way home from vacation and was hosted by the team for a tour. Lots of LRV action.

By the looks of it we might be seeing two at a time coming from Millhaven once they have equipment installed

According to The Record, all vehicles are now fully assembled, but 501 is still waiting for backordered parts. Bombardier is now starting to install the specialized equipment for Grandlinq.

Where is the monthly update PDF?

(And why is it always squirrelled away somewhere that I have to ask every time where to find it? This is supposed to be public)

And why no public statement about the welds yet for our trains? I know people who are sure this will add another delay.

100% agree.  Also why or how does the media always get it first??

Edit : I wish ION would publish these like they use to with the Bi-weekly construction updates!

Indeed. If it’s not a problem, why not just say so?

And if it is, hiding it won’t make it better. Being straightforward would be, in the long run, the better PR strategy.

Surely Bombardier wouldn't continue to ship units to us if they had welding issues?

Depending on how they are gonna test the welds it's not always quick and easy, especially if they gotta lift the LRV and partially disassemble them to access the weld.
