Thanks for the update. That was really good. I think you always have to be patient with a new build. Not unlike a new house build with construction still going on and dirt everywhere.

• ParkCo really sucks. It's slow, bad customer service, and expensive. There is no free visitor parking which is really something I wish I had known when purchasing. The gate was just lowered this week preventing anyone from coming in even for a quick visit.

If you purchased a parking license, need to interact with them to get access to the garage set up and you hardly hear from them. 

It does really suck you can’t have visitors park for free.

I believe Mac mentioned he’s from Toronto so I assume has some visitors from out of town. Also not everyone in the region lives near the LRT unfortunately.

I believe we get charged $50 per month. This is on top of the parking license we purchased...
For overnight parking, it's 10$ on weeknights and 15$ on Fri and Sat night. They say your visitor will get 25% off this price

$50 plus the licence (which I recall wasn't cheap) is pretty pricy. And visitors too ...

Street parking for visitors is probably OK for now but once all the towers are built, it'll be pretty hard finding parking spots on the street.

I think the answer (generally speaking, not necessarily for Votemac's specific situation) is that they can, but they won't. If they are already taking a car, transferring to the ION adds much more friction than finding a way to stick with the car for the entire trip. Parking on nearby streets and walking (even 5-10 minutes away) is probably still quicker than a parking garage + ION transfer, and it's cheaper. And it looks like Station Park has visitor parking, just not free, so your suggestion to use a city parking garage and transfer to the ION is both more expensive and more time consuming than just paying for parking at the condo.

For people coming from out of town, there is even more friction, since we don't use Presto and our fare machines are still garbage. And don't recommend the Duke St garage as a transfer point, since many people don't carry cash anymore and the City Hall station fare machine still errors on debit/credit payments (I've told GRT staff/fare inspectors multiple times after failing to pay, since I forgot to top up my card at another station that works).

Honestly if I didn't have my own unused parking space, I don't think anyone other than a few people in walking distance would ever visit my home. You might not like that reality, but it is what it is.

I assume you're making the point that people should use transit rather than cars...but if they're driving from Toronto it's just easier to have a spot at the actual place you're going as opposed to parking your car in some garage (which is risky) and then taking rapid transit to your destination. It's just annoying to do.

Car drivers are the overwhelming majority, so yes, the system (whatever it is) should cater to the majority
