General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours
I saw crews drilling in the lot between Ziggy's and One Victoria on Monday.
Crews were drilling at the former United Taxi this morning.

ETA: For the curious, here is the United Taxi listing. https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/24375...-kitchener

Two or three months ago they were also doing testing at the little parking lot across from the old bus terminal on Charles Street. If I recall, someone said that one may be another IN8 project.

I was told that IN8 is not the purchaser of Ziggy's but it is a local group. I haven't seen anything concrete on either site yet in terms of a transaction but haven't checked in a few weeks.

What a relief.

Ah, I meant the property on Charles Street, not the Ziggy's location. There was a discussion in a thread on here a couple weeks ago and someone said IN8 owns the former but it was nothing confirmed.

VanMar bought Ziggys for $14,500,000. Heard they're planning 40 stories/500 units

Holly Coonolly !!!  WOW,  what is the size of the property?

I think that Ziggy doesn't even own it anymore, I think his wife got that place as part of a settlement for divorce... Geeze...

I think you are right. Ziggy started ZM in TO and his wife kept the Kitchener shop. So in hindsight, being forced to move for a widened highway has really paid off. Smart family playing the long game here. Smile

I remember the big opposition when they had to move the store from the former Old King Street location

There is a ZM in Kitchener too, but on Strange St. Which was always confusing to me when I first moved here.

With the price of Treks these days, that’s probably only a couple bikes!

In comparison, does anyone know how much IN8 bought the TEK Tower parcel for?

I think we have reached the point where we hear of another 40 storey tower coming to Kitchener and nobody bats and eye. That’s 7 over 40 storeys coming down the pipeline

$10,250,000 I believe

Proposing a 44 storey multiple dwelling - 26 Charles St West. This is IN8s third location as was discussed earlier in this thread.

I’m not sure how this parcel is zoned so I’m not sure if we will get documents. I guess we can make a thread for this one and 88 Queen when we get some renders? If anyone want to make the threads go for it!
