What's the status of the new maintenance facility up by Northfield for artics and electric busses? Has it even gotten started?

It appears largely complete externally, although I don't know how far along the internal fitout is.

YouTube suggested https://youtu.be/ekZhkCMFYv8 to me, and I thought of this comment. Although it's from a year ago it gives a pretty good sense of scale for how big this project is, and how much is underway.

Does anyone know why the GRT/ION scanner streams were removed from cykf.net? Are they also encrypted now? I tried the contact email but never heard back.

Wasn't the Region's switch-over to the new radio system supposed to happen this year?

The announcement about the new encrypted WRPS system coming online in September said Fire would also switch immediately, followed by other regional agencies a few months later in early 2021. Fire did switch to the new system, but their transmissions are not encrypted. EMS is still available there, with no indication they have switched systems yet. I know the cykf.net GRT/ION streams were available during the summer, but the page has mysteriously disappeared from the site now. I'm just trying to figure out what actually happened and whether public transit is now encrypted or not.

It would seem that everything is on P25 now, but only WRPS is encrypted. I wonder why cykf.net removed the public transit streams?

Maybe it's because GRT/EMS is operated regionally operated? With the exception of fire, since each city/township has their own thing. I know WRPS is region wide but maybe some agencies just moved ahead faster than others.

Finally some good progress on the new UW GRT bus station. GRT just posted some photos on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/p/CWDzGMwA1xx/ .

Supply chain issues on a project that was supposed to be done two years ago!

Wasn't there UW's usual uncooperativeness to deal with, though?

Surely that didn’t affect the construction phase? I can see getting to construction being a problem, with having to negotiate with the University where the buses will go and what land will be transferred to whom, but once that’s all figured out I’d be pretty surprised if the University continued to cause trouble.

"Supply chain issues" has also hit the Carl Zehr Square renovation. I can see "Supply chain issues" becoming a handy shorthand for "everything beyond our control" for years to come.

Was thinking about this the other day, and maybe this is better suited to the general Kitchener thread but. How is possible that the entirety of Charlie West, a 31 storey condo, was started and in all likelihood will finish construction before they finish what seems to be slightly more than a repaving of the public square. Asinine.
