Kitchener should consider making a monument that's at least 80 stories tall. Now we're talking.

For the curious Smile

Drove past site today. Looks like the stick built curtain wall was being installed on the floor above the podium on the west facing side of the building. No glass or spandrel panels installed yet. It will be interesting to see an example of what the finished product will look like.

Well the building was designed for micro living - we know this based on unit size and compilation and it was pitched hard to GTA realtors and investors. IMO its a 'safe' design street curb appeal wise and i don't mind that. If it ain't broke don t fix - risk it - but am looking forward to the final, 40 story version.

I really don't think DTK is really quite at the "micro" level yet. The units are small, yes, but until you start getting 1BR units under 400 sqft and bachelors under 300 sqft, they are just plain "small" rather than "micro".

Sub 300 square feet?! Oh common show me where in Canada 299 or less exists? That's just bat s*** insanity!

Fyi aren't there units around 400sqft, some at like 385 in this building?

You've proven me wrong. Now that's a shoebox. Was that only one unit/one off?

You've got me wondering - will you be able to see Guelph from the top of DTK?

Given it's on top of a hill I think its likely. Certainly anything at 50 stories (which was rumored to be in the pipeline before the pandemic) youd be able to see guelph

Which building was rumored at 50 stories?

I went and checked, and there is indeed a 402 sqft 1BR unit. Most 1BR units are 500-600 sqft, and the 2BR ones are about 700 sqft.

You can definitely live fairly comfortably in 300 sqft bachelor unit (as a single person); I have done so myself. You just can't accumulate a lot of stuff.

Oh yes of course, it's all doable...it's just now what anyone outside of metropolitan cities are used to. I imagine the average square foot per person in Kitchener Waterloo is north of 500sqft considering all the houses.
