ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit
Looks like metrolinx has given up entirely on building their own signaling system. And to boot they say that was always the plan. Goodness we got shafted by that.

Looks like ION service will be cut to 20 minutes today and 15 minutes afterwards, although I hadn't noticed the train coming less frequently past my house.

I am a little concerned by this, yes, volumes are down, but it is important to avoid crowding, I hope they are using the extra time in order to disinfect vehicles more often.

It seems the Traynor crossing is finally open.

Has crowding on the trains been an issue in recent weeks?

Hmmm. Turns out it’s not dangerous to cross the tracks after all — one just has to be aware that they are there and what they are.

I wonder if they’re still doing that ridiculous 20km/h through there?

All reports I've seen from ION/GRT are that trains and buses are almost completely empty. When I've seen them go by it's only been 1-2 people on the train.

In the mornings (7-8 AM) in DTK, I typically see half a dozen or so passengers on any given train.

Has there been updates on ATP? Now would be a good chance to do more testing?

We did a video that talks about the signs and signals used by the ION LRT:

Last I heard they were still working on it...but they didn't want to give any more details than that, so who knows.

Last anyone heard it was supposed going to be done testing by December 2019.

For anyone listening to the radio feed, this article does not state it, but if they go with encryption, no more listening after August or September Sad

The upside is you wont have tow trucks driving at stupid speeds to an accident because they wont know where it is !!!

Does anybody know if this will include ambulance? The article only mentioned fire, police, and GRT.

Waterloo Region EMS dispatch is run by the Ontario Government and use a different radio system.
