Is that "Wool-Witch" or "Wool-ich"?  (Seriously, I've heard both, although I've always (mis)pronounced it "Wool-witch".

From my experience, having been a " Woolwichian" or "Woolwichite" Smile for much of my life, I have found most residents pronounce it 'wool-witch". Certainly how I have always pronounced it.

Wha? I don't live in Woolwich, but I don't think I've ever heard the second "w". Only "Wool-itch".

So apparently the first report on vehicle delivery is out but I don't know where to find it. Below is The Record reporting on it.

Thanks, Canard. How long ago is this update from? Last week?

It’s the memo dated May 29. Presumably, the information is given from Bombardier to Regional Staff, then they have to recompile it for the release, which likely takes a few days.

Right. From the dates, it looks like BBD would have prepared it sometime between 18 May and 23 May.

Quote:Resumes pour in for LRT driver positons

WATERLOO REGION — More than 3,000 people have applied to become an LRT driver in Waterloo Region.
The online posting, seeking 39 drivers who will earn $62,000-$65,000 a year, only went up two weeks ago.
There were so many applications, the job posting is closing sooner than originally planned.

"Due to an overhwhelming response, Keolis Grand River will be closing the request for LRT Operator applications as of Monday June 4th at 4 p.m." read an email from spokesperson Lauren Reaman.

I have lived in Waterloo region all my life, and my relatives are all local Amish mennonites. I never heard "Wool-itch" until I was an adult and I heard about the place in England.

Next shibboleth, how do you pronounce "Wellesley" ;-)

Wellz-ley

Is is Vie-mar Line, or Weemer Line?

Definitely Wellz-ley. I have heard "Well-es-ley", but I think it was ironical.

As for the latter, I say "Wye-mar".
