General Suburban Updates and Rumours
Grading has now commenced on the multi use property at Fairway and Lackner. With a new school, shops and residential living that intersection is going to be a worse nightmare than it already is.

I'm not sure that's "Urban" Kitchener. How much retail and residential is going in there?

Anyone know a Starbucks franchisee that would like to build *one* north of King? Smile  [HINT: Its on my way to work!]

Here is a proposed site plan for that corner. It will be pretty dense with Residential, commercial and institutional.

Lots of equipment on site the last couple of days.  This one's getting started.

Did the school get approved finally? I know there was a TON of debate on that one.

A question - "What's up with all the parking along Fairway Rd", and an observation - "Wow, some of those townhouses are close to the school, are they intended to be freehold or rentals?"

I believe Ottawa St is being widened. You can review this document.

Has anyone heard whether St. Patrick's School in Kitchener has been sold? It's looking very dilapidated.

All Starbucks are corporately owned. They do not franchise.

On another note, I'm GLAD there's plans for a roundabout at Fairway and Lackner. That has to be one of the worst timed lights in the whole Region. While Fairway is significantly busier than Lackner, the green on Fairway is so short (maybe 15 seconds?) and is red on Fairway most of the times I go through that intersection. It actually creates quite the backup on Fairway WB at 5 pm.
