Amazon has heaps of them, 30$ and up. I'm sure any local electronics store will have them too. I remember playing around on a site that showed you what channels you could receive with the different kind of antennas and the height they were mounted at.

Radio Shack. Tongue

Sorry for the useless historical reference. But don’t be confused by the fancy-looking dish-shaped antennas. For TV signals the dish shape gives absolutely nothing. Almost any long-enough (which isn’t very long) piece of metal should do the job.

The site in question: http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29

I've found it to be pretty accurate, so long as you get the antenna height correct.

Just gave it a test with my Country Hills location. It estimates I can get CTV, Global and TVO with an indoor antenna.

Same as my Downtown location. Wish that more condos would include OTA as a building-wide feature.

I bought some of my antenna stuff from Research Electronic on Frobisher in Waterloo, some other friends went to get antennae and wound up buying an Android TV box Smile

Does it matter what direction the antenna is facing? I live in a unit facing north. Would that impede the usefulness of an antenna?

RE: General Arts and Culture News - KevinL - 03-30-2017

CKCO broadcasts from Baden Hill, to the southwest. If the walls of your building are concrete, and you have a number of them in that direction, that could definitely affect reception. You probably could still get a signal but would need a larger antenna and/or would want to mount it outdoors.

I have an Android box, and depending on the addon, there are several Canadian stations available. Unfortunately I've never been able to locate CKCO. I'll keep trying to find it because I want to ditch the cable due to lack of use. CKCO is the only thing I watch on it.

Surplus store sells a variety of antennas

It's not just sports - general-issues reporter Nadia Matos was let go by CTV as well.

Local sports coverage was the one thing that made the Kitchener news worth watching. They covered high school sports as if they mattered to the community (which they do). There is no need to turn the station into a news repeater for the CTV Toronto news and sports which shows only professional sports.

This is such a mistake and a loss for the community viewers where some media consultant said local sports was just a cost account that needed to be eliminated.

Does 'local' include the Rangers?

I watched the 11:30 news tonight ( both Toronto and Kitchener) and IMO about 70% of the news was a repeat of the fed/stories from Toronto CTV.

It seems that Kitchener CTV is just going to be simply a repeater station in almost every way.

Left wondering what their CRTC approved licence requires about community programming as a part of the terms of their broadcast licence?

Did they cut it as in downsized, or cut it as in gone?
