Lots going on this weekend (from today's Record):

Multicultural Festival is at Victoria Park all weekend from noon to 8 p.m.

City on Edge exhibit is at the Waterloo Region Museum during regular hours on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Koi Fest at the Parking Lot is on Saturday at Centre in the Square from noon to 10:30 p.m.   http://centreinthesquare.com/the-parking-lot/

Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery free tour is on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

It will be interesting to see how the re-formatted Koi fest works out with CITS involvement.  The weather certainly seems promising!

Lots of people at the multicultural festival still at 8 PM when the music was over.  Definitely a popular event.

The multi cultural festival was great, lots of people.

We go every year and it's mainly because of the delicious street foods.

Going back today for some more music (although Kultrun really does have a better selection of bands) and some more food!

RE: General Arts and Culture News - panamaniac - 06-26-2016

Kultrún opens this year at themuseum on July 8th, with a full programme of free concerts on two stages in Victoria Park on July 9th and 10th. Looks like a very good line up this year!

Santerias was at KWMF as well, would like to see them again at Kultrun.

Strangely enough, I'm hoping to catch the Jewish Monkeys - we don't get a lot of klezmer music around these parts!

The KWMF was one of the best festivals I've been to. Tons of food with reasonable prices and small portions mean I can try lots of different things. There was no entrance fee either. Way better than rib fest!

I noticed this afternoon that there was a Mennonite choir setting up to perform on the City Hall stage this afternoon and I was struck by the fact that they were not participating in the festival in Victoria Park. Then I remembered that the local German clubs don't participate either - quirks of the local perception of "multicultural", perhaps.

I am guessing this has a lot to do with the purpose of the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre (which runs the event) having a lot to do with settlement of newcomers to Canada.

Not all the groups or vendors are recent immigrants: Scottish, Serbian, Irish, Spanish, Hungarian and Polish, for example. And KWMC says they will assist anyone, even if they focus their efforts on newcomers.

The Record has a good piece on the Kultrun Festival, taking place this weekend in Victoria Park. Looks like a very good programme.

I am looking forward to going this year.

Too bad that I'll miss it this year. Sad
