RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - tomh009 - 02-04-2016 Without having seen any details, the concept looks good. The neighbouring residents might be less happy about the new tall neighbour though. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - MidTowner - 02-04-2016 It's Sunlife on two sides, retail across the street on John (maybe they would be considered about shading, but I can't see why, and less so than homeowners might anyway), retail and Cortes across the street on King. Not the same situation with the Cortes and the single-family homes just across Dodd's Lane. I think it's a pretty good site for some height from the perspective of likely opposition. I also think John and King is a logical intersection for a few taller buildings. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - GtwoK - 02-04-2016 How new is that, though? It doesn't even look like it includes Ion, which means it could have just been a concept from 5 years ago rather than an up and coming project RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - notmyfriends - 02-04-2016 (02-04-2016, 10:14 AM)MidTowner Wrote: That's new to me. Something there would be very exciting... There is a distinct lot about an acre and a quarter on that corner of King and John, and a separate home behind it on John. Whether Sunlife has purchased it at some point, I don't know. I think they owned them, or I thought so at one point. In any event, they don't own them for sure now, as they sold that whole property to Concert Real Estate a year ago or so. http://www.concertproperties.com/ RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - rangersfan - 02-04-2016 Jcnb do you have anymore details? RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - Pheidippides - 02-04-2016 Same image came up on this Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/wilsoncodesign RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - rangersfan - 02-04-2016 That Twitter feed has some interesting flashes of information like this in progress render: https://mobile.twitter.com/WilsonCoDesign/status/674046655046541312/photo/1 RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - rangersfan - 02-04-2016 That render at King and John, reminds me of City Centre. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - Spokes - 02-05-2016 Is it just me or does it look like those stairs are fronting King St? Or am I looking at it wrong. Poor street interaction? RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - MidTowner - 02-05-2016 No, you're right. Kind of weird- is there a grade on King there? I can't remember. That would be poor street interaction. This render may not be very reflective of an eventual proposal, though. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - Spokes - 02-06-2016 I dont remember there being any grade issues there. Not that I can think of at least. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - tomh009 - 02-12-2016 Another Terry Good building condemned as uninhabitable. This time, it's 154 Erb St E. http://www.therecord.com/news-story/6274984-waterloo-takes-action-against-landlord-terry-good/ RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - GtwoK - 02-12-2016 Heh. Was just talking with a girl the other day about the hellish apartment her and her roommates were living in last year. Couldn't reach the landlord after a few months, so they lived rent-free. Squatters in the unlocked basement. Mould everywhere. Just generally a terrible place to be. I'm just now making the connection that it's this building from Terry Good. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - notmyfriends - 02-12-2016 Did a google map view to see where exactly this place was, and in the street view there's a cop parked out front. Seems about right. RE: General Urban Waterloo Updates and Rumours - Lens - 02-12-2016 Potential development coming to Erb st West near Uptown... https://www.realtor.ca/Commercial/Vacant-Land/16408730/146-154-Erb-Street-W-Waterloo-Ontario-N2L1V1 |
