Fences are now around both properties - likely to come down in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the update. And welcome to WRC!

That's great news that this is going forward. I still haven't seen anything from the city about this one though.

Re: 222 Albert Street - Spokes - 09-15-2014

Found this interesting. One drawing from the design firm shows two commercial units facing Lester with an art gallery facing university. A new gallery would be interesting here for sure.

That 'lenticular' facade is pretty damn cool.

There's not much to see - the zone change was approved on June 23 (download link to the meeting packet here). It was a removal of the holding symbol to confirm that the infrastructure capacity was sufficient. The proposal is a "12 storey mixed use building containing 66 units (95 beds) and approximately 100 square metres of commercial space on the ground floor".

Most of the time, the labels for the commercial units in renderings have nothing to do with reality.

Thanks for clarifying all of that!

Re: 222 Albert Street - Markster - 09-24-2014

I am so, so happy that this parcel will have prominent ground level retail. It is too important an intersection to remain single-use residential.

If only it also had as nice a relation to the corner as the building on the other side of Albert.

RE: 222 Albert Street - nms - 12-10-2014

A flyer arrived in the mail today for Accomod8U, touting "Luxury Apartments for Rent".  They are representing 255 Sunview Street and 222 Albert Street.

RE: 222 Albert Street - Watdot - 01-21-2015

Second crane being installed on site.

Two cranes for a medium size development !?

Are they trying to rush this thing in time for the Fall term?

RE: 222 Albert Street - Markster - 01-22-2015

It's a very deep site, so I suspect that construction for this, and for the red building in the background of this picture are being coordinated.

RE: 222 Albert Street - firex - 01-28-2015

Two constructions on this site.

222 Albert (the foreground building) and 228 Albert (the background building). Lego's are in the ground for 228. Just a cement slab right now for 222.

Both are being constructed simultaneously, but 222 is expected to be finished first (it's a precast design construction, vs. ICF construction on 228).

Good to know. Having not looked closely at the details I was never certain if the building in the background was part of the project or just picture back ground.
