I think this is one of the best places to get a glimpse of how much change is taking place here. With Charlie West, 1 Victoria, UW School of Pharmacy, the new train station is completed, all 5 towers (including that 44 floor one) of Station Park and The Breithaupt Block Phase III etc, it's going to look like a new city at this intersection

How do you get up high to get those shots?

Those look to be taken from parking garages, which are generally open to the public. I was actually on top of the Charles/Benton garage today (checked to see if I was in the photo) and the view is actually quite something from up there.

Correct, I just wandered up various parking garages. It didn't occur to me to check out the one on Benton since it probably has a good view of things, but the Market Square one and the spiral green one still offer pretty good panoramas.

Nice photos! I find that it's fairly hard to capture the skyline here because it's spread out in a few different areas - downtown, uptown and the university area. Hard to capture all that in one photo, and stitching a bunch of single photos into a panoramic one ends up really messing it up.

Thanks! Yeah it can be tricky to align everything in a way that captures what's actually there.

Chicopee's angle for instance, looks completely different:

Where was the last picture taken? I am having a hard time figuring it out.

Henry Strum Greenway just west of Lawrence maybe?

RE: Post your pictures of Waterloo Region! - megabytephreak - 06-19-2021

A little bit of a different skyline view, from Sawmill Road, just south of the Crowsfoot/Katherine intersection.

DTK and Charlie West really stand out from here.

Found this old map from the late 19th century posted over on Reddit and thought I'd share it here. It's pretty interesting! Full image link if you want to zoom in: https://i.imgur.com/UJobDWe.jpg

Chimneys and churches!

It's interesting that the old water tower on St. George Street was preceded by a standpipe at the same location. It looks really similar to the design of the one that used to stand outside Clinton: http://www.eureka4you.com/wt-on/ONClinton.htm
