Does it take a month like the LCBO online ordering?

Orders ready for pick-up in as little as 30 minutes, supposedly.

RE: General Retail News - Viewfromthe42 - 11-14-2016

The LCBO and Beer Store ones are different. LCBO gives you access to everything they carry in the province, so I used it to order things that weren't available within the region. I could have paid extra to have it within a couple days, but didn't feel a need, so it took a few weeks. It's also shipped to you, and even if your local LCBO had everything you ordered, it would still be packaged from their central location before shipping.

Beer Store is only for whatever a particular store has on hand, so it's easy for them to prepare it in only a few minutes.

So it's not a fair comparison to make.

Wowza!  I walked in thru those doors just shortly before this, and was at the watch counter getting a new battery put in when the water started flooding in the front of the store!

(Side note: When we saw the flooding, the sales person said "I blame iON... they are messing up everything around here") Sad

Coke

RE: General Retail News - DHLawrence - 11-17-2016

Wasn't there a flood a couple years ago at Fairview? Long before the construction started?

RE: General Retail News - JoeKW - 11-17-2016

There's always floods at Fairview.

Household China will close in the coming year, after 58 years in business.

Home Outfitters at Laurentian Plaza (Ottawa/Strasburg) will be closing soon. Its neighbouring unit is the vacant former Target, so that leaves that side of the centre particularly empty.

RE: General Retail News - razzie13 - 02-06-2017

I can see that whole Target/Home Outfitters section bring demolished eventually and condos or apartments put in to help support remaining businesses closer to Ottawa Street. With Sunrise so close I can't see many places wanting space at Laurentian

RE: General Retail News - TMKM94 - 02-06-2017

The only thing I could see opening up in the old Target space would be another fitness place/gym or another big box furniture store,  but I'm guessing there are more then enough of both in KW already. Maybe Ikea would open there if/when they decide to build a full size location? I would have thought Giant Tiger would work perfect there but they just renovated there Greenbrook location not too long ago so I think there happy with the location they have.

RE: General Retail News - nms - 02-06-2017

In case anyone was worried about an over saturation of Tim Hortons in west Waterloo, it looks like the new building at the Fisher-Hallman/Erb Zehrs plaza will not be having a Tim Hortons after all. The largest space will be home to a new branch the Meridian Credit Union. Incidentally, there is a variance application for the property to allow more retail space in the main building (as opposed to either food service or office space).

RE: General Retail News - DHLawrence - 02-08-2017

O.W. Sports to close in Uptown.

RE: General Retail News - Bob_McBob - 02-12-2017

There are more signs up at the new little strip mall in the parking lot of Beechwood Plaza. In addition to the already-mentioned Meridian Banking, there's also Magicuts, Sketchley, tripcentral.ca. Nothing much of interest. I wonder what's going on with the old KFC location that has been vacant for years.
