Winners in the former Future Shop

They already have a location at Highland Hills. Might that one be moving?

Pardon me, I forgot that location closed years ago.  Blush

COBS Bread is recruiting for a franchisee in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Black Arrow Cycles has now relocated to its new location at 50 Queen St S. The new shop is considerably larger than the Ontario St shop.

It appears that CARL’S JR. has closed in Uptown Waterloo. Somewhat suprising as there seemed to usually be a fair amount of people in there. It looks like perhaps they are re-focusing on western Canada.

Already discussed in another thread ... there was a contractual problem between Carl's Jr corporate and 6 Points (the Southern Ontario franchisee), so all those stores have closed.  It appears Carl's Jr is looking to open new stores, possibly with a different franchisee.

An interesting new order online and pickup option is being rolled out at certain "smart center" branded big box plazas. They tout one of the benefits as not having to even get out of your car https://www.penguinpickup.com/

Sure enough- “don’t leave your car.” Ugh. I guess Penguin doesn’t want your business unless you’re driving.

Am I missing something?  Why wouldn't you just have your parcel delivered to your house?

Have you missed a Fedex drop-off? Here's where you need to go for your "home delivery". https://goo.gl/maps/1kjsPyC54MF2

Yikes, I guess I don't miss Fedex packages.  I'm used to Canada Post, but they are more conveniently located for package collection.

I do wonder though, are Smart Centers that much better located?  Wink

You’re right, StupidCentres aren't exactly central.

It would be much cooler to get Canada’s first Amazon locker in the 7-Eleven at King and University, and then go from there.

Indeed ... I'm not a huge fan of CPC, but for shopping for home, the convenience is much better.  If ordering from Amazon, I can now actually choose to deliver to the nearest post office, and then walk over to pick up my parcel after I get my email notification.  Better than leaving the parcel at the door -- let alone having to drive to Cambridge!

There's a FedEx drop-off and pick-up location in Waterloo, at the plaza on University next to the University of Waterloo. I've picked up parcels there on several occasions.

I can confirm that schooner77 isn't making this up.

It's true, it's the Kinko's FedEx Kinko's FedEx location that has been there for almost for ever.  But if your package to Waterloo isn't deliverable, it still goes back to Cambridge.
