The Record is reporting tonight that Club Abstract will close on April 25th and that a new club will move into the building one week later.

1458 Weber St Kitchener is currently under construction, preparing for a new restaurant called "Fork and Cork Grill".

Fork and Cork. The menu makes it seem like it might be a nice place.

Definitely and upgrade from what was there before. That area seems to be moving more upmarket with this new restaurant and the Bent Elbow in addition to the longer established Charcoal Group restaurants.

Drove by Darlisle Café on Queen St S today and it appears to have opened.

A nice kitchen, a smiling chef. Darlise Cafe is a gorgeous setting on Queen near King [url=https://twitter.com/DTKitchener]@DTKitchener

I've gone there a few times now, and I can't recommend the breakfast sandwich at the Bauer Cafe enough (the smoked turkey one anyway). The biscuit is exceptional, but I think the big difference is that they actually put some vegetation on it (tomato and I think arugula). It's definitely worth trying anyway.

New Hamburg cheesemaker Mountain Oak Cheese recently won a category award at the biennial Canadian Cheese Grand Prix for their "Premium Dutch Gold" Extra Aged Gouda.  Sometimes these award-winning cheeses can be hard to find, but I believe that Vincenzo's carries Mountain Oak products.  In the alternative, great excuse for a drive out to Mountain Oak and a short drive into New Hamburg for lunch!

Mountain Oak is also regularly available through the Bailey's Local Foods.

I wish that Bailey's Local Foods and Ambrosia Pastry could get together with a Downtown landlord with an empty storefront to organize a weekly "market".  I thought the arrangement that Bailey's had with the former Entertaining Elements was a pretty good idea.

Or maybe one of the downtown churches could provide a space? Another option could be the City Hall rotunda.

City Hall rotunda is an interesting idea, but I think hosting commercial activities for other than fund-raising purposes might be a problem for the churches.

Looks like the Chen's Buffet is now open at Weber & Bridgeport in Waterloo.
Can't find anything online about it. Only hit I get is for Chen's on University West, which has extremely mixed reviews.
Anyone know if these two places are the same ownership, and if so, how does that bode for the quality of the Weber location?

Nice to see the patio at The Boathouse open and busy this afternoon. They need to get some umbrellas out there, for those of us not able to take the sun.
