On the topic of Japanese food, there's a new Kinton Ramen location opening in uptown Waterloo this December: https://www.kintonramen.com/location/kinton-ramen-waterloo/ Never been there myself so I'm not sure if it's any good (they seem to be a chain in both USA and Canada).

The menu looks pretty close to what you might see in Japan, more so than Crafty Ramen. I might have make a hike up to Waterloo once they're open and the weather co-operates.

I think this chart (also from FAO) is enlightening as it shows the development of real food prices over the last 60 years. We appear to be at another peak, the third in the chart.

It's great to see Mary Browns adding additional locations in KW. IMO They are far better then KFC.

I'm located very close to their Strasburg outlet; perhaps too close for the sake of my waistline, sometimes.

We were riding the bus past the University/Weber plaza and I noticed Holy Guacamole has been renamed to Guac Mexican Grill. Anyone have any details?

Holy Guacamole has closed all of their locations except the one on Victoria St. Website for Guac Mexican Grill.

Crews are installing the patios Downtown on King St today. Now we just need the weather to cooperate.

A new to me bakery discovery: Palmer's Baked Goods in Waterloo.  They offered a very inexpensive home delivery option which was nice because going out to get the bread Saturday morning was not going to work for me this weekend.

From their website:

Quote:Each Monday, the menu is updated for the coming weekend. From Monday to Friday at noon, you can order your breads and pastries for your weekend and they will arrive freshly baked at your door Saturday morning!

I placed an order on Thursday and it arrived Saturday by 10:00am.  The croissants were buttery, the bread was a good texture, and I at the focaccia for dinner.

Anybody tried Bello Mío yet? The menu looks good - more upscale than the standard NAmerican Italian fare.
