What the...?! 7:47am on a Sunday and a GO Train just flew Eastbound past Lancaster!

Shuttling trains between the yards as a way to keep the snow clear?

RE: GO Transit - Canard - 01-08-2017

I suppose. It was moving at a pretty good clip - faster than when I see them normally in that section having departed the station. Just caught the back end (enough to see it was a CEM Big Grin ).

RE: GO Transit - clasher - 01-08-2017

Maybe they needed a spare at mt pleasant?

RE: GO Transit - Canard - 01-09-2017

Was told they were "testing new equipment". Guessing the CEM was the latest from Thunder Bay.

RE: GO Transit - KevinL - 01-26-2017

Saw this yesterday, but it completely slipped my mind to report it here.

I saw a double-decker GO bus being taken around the Charles terminal yesterday; literally 'around', as in, on neighbouring streets. Interestingly, the roof hatch was open and a staffer had his head poking out - presumably to check that headroom would not be an issue.

Seems like it might not be long before that new terminal place that was made for them goes into service.

Diesel exhaust putting some GO riders at risk - The Record

Quote:The researchers found that concentrations of the two pollutants were not high when trains were in "push mode," which is when the locomotive is at the back of the moving train. Roughly half of GO trains are pushed.

LOL

RE: GO Transit - Markster - 02-07-2017

When you take into account non-revenue deadhead runs... it's plausible that it's not exactly 50% of passenger runs!

A GO Transit connection to KW is one of the possibilities mentioned for the proposed Pearson Airport (YYZ) transit hub by 2027:

Actually, no -- they mention a high-speed rail line to Kitchener!

RE: GO Transit - Canard - 02-08-2017

That's always been the long-term vision - it's not a new pitch in this concept. They're just embracing it and anticipating it.

In the first picture, it looks like the 409 continues under Viscount Rd.... to where?  Will they tunnel an extention under the airport to Dixie Rd?  Are they building underground parking under the current terminals?  Or is it just a new underground roundabout to send everyone back?
