I think this area is perfect for redevelopment and have a soft spot for flatirons buildings, but it's the process of getting to the finished stage I don't love. I'll admit to this purely being personal though. I live in King East and work downtown and I'm getting burnt out with the construction. I don't expect it to stop just for me and I do look forward to the improvements to my neighbourhood.

Describing that rendering as a "flatiron building" seems quite a stretch, no?
The article described it that way so I'm hoping for the best.

Noticed some drilling for samples at the corner of Victoria and Walnut today. Along with review of the zoning in the vacant lot between the tracks and Victoria, and 196 Victoria St S changing hands, I wonder if there might be planning afoot for development in that spot.

The old MacIntosh Dry Cleaners building is getting a second floor as of this weekend. Interested to know how the plans have evolved from earlier articles back in 2016 - maybe additional floor space for offices in addition to the proposed bar/cafe space. Either way, nice to finally see some action at this site.

As long as they preseve the drive thru canopy. I suppose saving/restoring the old Vitrolite facade would be too much to hope for.

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - Spokes - 11-11-2019

Im curious how that looks in terms of how connected it feels with the original structure

Part of the watermain work that's closed down the IHT?

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - white_brian - 11-18-2019

It been vacant land for a long time, there was a huge rat problem in the tank as it was being used. Along the creek the ground would be crawling with rats at dusk and dawn

Does anyone know what the story is behind this place?

Fairly extensive renos done and what seems to be completed over a year ago. It has sat in its current state since and shows no sign of anything else happening. Address is 270 King E.

It was Braun's Locksmith for years, they stopped having a storefront about 5-7(?) years ago and the space was renovated. Not sure why they haven't secured a long-term tenant.
